Elliot Stewart
Head Coach
Mission Prep Head Baseball Coach Elliot Stewart, an alumni of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, was a three year starter for the Mustangs. He redshirted in 2012 to recover from Tommy John surgery. After a full year recovery, he came back in 2013 to start 40 games and helped Cal Poly get to their second Regional in Division 1 history. Stewart caught all three games in the UCLA regional. During his playing career Cal Poly ranked top 25 in the country three out of four years.
Prior to Stewart playing for Cal Poly, he played for West Valley College in 2009. During his time there he earned first-team All-Golden Gate Conference Honors as a catcher. He helped lead West Valley to a 22-18 overall record, a tie for first place in the Golden Gate Conference and a bid to the state regional.
Following his playing career, Stewart began his coaching career immediately at Cal Poly. He was hired as the Director of Operations in 2014, and Volunteer Assistant for the 2015 and 2017 seasons under Head Coach Larry Lee. “Mission is getting a very good baseball coach in Elliot Stewart,” Lee said. “He has a good baseball mind and works well with players. I enjoyed working with him as a player and as an assistant coach. I look forward to see what he will accomplish in the future.”
In 2016, Stewart took a year away from Cal Poly to start a baseball training business in SLO where he worked with hundreds of youth baseball players along the coast. "I’m a firm believer that when the team wins, everyone wins. With baseball being such a mental game, it’s rewarding to know the tools I give them to get better on the field also makes them a better person off of the field. If I can encourage players to work harder than they ever have and give them ways to deal with adversity, they’ll be set up for the real world when baseball is over.”
Stewart’s roots stem from playing varsity baseball and football for Archbishop Mitty High School out of San Jose, CA.
